Education: You should have a college degree, preferably in business administration. Having your life & health insurance licenses and becoming FINRA registered are required. Having some financial product sales experience, preferably in life insurance is a big plus.
Experience 0-5 years: This is an entry level position. The comprehensive on the job training is designed to fully prepare the candidate for graduating to a Regional Director (RD) position equipped with the most sophisticated and effective skill set for the position.
Key Responsibilities:
- To promote the sale of life insurance through financial advisors (FA) using training and transactional insurance product packages. The simplified packages are intended to attract a greater number of FAs to this product line as a complement to the other services they offer.
- The Regional Marketing Specialist (RMS) supports the sales efforts of the Regional Directors by directly handling these smaller transactional sales and by assisting the RD with sales opportunities that may be beyond the scope of RMS job.
- The RMS typically calls on a territory that is larger than the RD. The RMS conducts group, as well as one on one, training to help the FAs understand how and why to add insurance into their financial planning services.
Compensation: The RMS receives commissions for each product/package sold. The candidate may also qualify for compensation subsidy during the first year of employment, In addition to commission on the product packages they also have a Revenue Sharing Bonus and Referral Bonus. The Revenue Sharing bonus is a retroactive percentage bonus paid at various revenue levels achieved. Compensation expectations for the first few years should be between $40,000-$70,000. Thereafter, compensation at or above $100,000 is not uncommon. Benefits and expense reimbursement are in addition to the above compensation. You will also eventually become eligible for ownership interests in the company subject to minimum production requirements.
