Organization Overview
The Washington Center (TWC), founded in 1975, with an annual budget of $20 million, is the largest academic internship and seminar program in the United States and the world. More than 50,000 college students from around the world have participated in our uniquely intense and productive working, learning, and living programs. Through these experiences, our participants have gained valuable experience setting them on a course of further achievement, leadership, and engagement in their communities. Approximately $3 million of our total budget is funded by contributions from corporate and foundation donors and gifts from alumni.
Reporting to the Managing Director, Strategic Partnerships & Philanthropy, you will be responsible for the strategy and tactics to maximize contributions from corporate and foundation donors to support TWC’s new VET Initiative, a customized, semester-long internship program that addresses the needs veterans identify as critical to their transition to their civilian professional lives. We have created a pool of qualified prospects where you can start you work.
The Vet Initiative is a critical component of TWC’s Access and Opportunity focus, which also includes a robust program of support and services for students with disabilities. In this position, you will be responsible for balancing cultivation with strong stewardship practices – including engaging new corporate partners in the programs offered to the VETs. Using Salesforce to track your efforts, you will work closely with the fundraising staff to maximize contacts and coordinate visits. Working with corporations and their foundations as well as independent, private foundations is an area of strength in our fundraising efforts, and we will look to you to expand our reach in these areas.
