Reports to: Sr. Director & GM
Position Summary:
This is an advanced composite engineering position that requires creative problem solving, experience in analysis of light weight and thermally stable space structures and knowledge of composite materials and processes. Position is also accountable for meeting agreed to project budget and schedule requirements.
Essential Job Duties:
- Review and understand customer end-item requirements.
- Perform structural analysis of composite structures.
- Review designs and provide input for improvements.
- Use FEMAP and NASTRAN packages to perform analysis.
- Complete technical sections and estimate engineering costs and schedule for proposals.
- Generate concise presentations with visual aids and precise technical data for preliminary and critical review presentations.
- Present results to customer at preliminary/critical design reviews.
- May be responsible for analysis project management and customer interface.
- All other duties as requested.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to lead analysis activity including other
- Highly proficient in NASTRAN, FEMAP or other FEM software and MS Office.
- Thorough background in Finite Element Analysis including, static/thermal loading, structural dynamics, appropriate FEM modeling techniques, results interpretation
- Experience or knowledge in vibration testing and thermal analysis is a plus.
- Ability to independently handle project management and customer interface.
Education Qualification and Experience:
- Minimum BS in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum 6 years experience in engineering composite space structures.
- Ability to take initiative as a self-starter.
- Ability to work on several tasks simultaneously.
- Engineering task management and budgeting experience preferred.
