JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, operate different types of heavy equipment in a safe and effective manner to excavate, move and grade earth and other materials.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Operate excavator, front end loader and dozer as required.
- Perform daily safety and maintenance checks, such as checking oil, water, and tires.
- Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
- Promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Clean heavy equipment as scheduled and/or required.
- Must have a current and valid driver’s license.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
- Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent required.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum two years’ verifiable heavy equipment operator experience required for the following equipment:
- Skid Steer
- Excavator
- Front-end Loader
- Dozer
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- Must have a current CDL-B License
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Proven ability to problem solve/resolve conflicts
- Strong communication skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Communicating with internal customers – must be able to talk, hear, see, and comprehend.
- Mobility of arms – Must be able to reach, pull, lift, and use arms to manipulate small objects and stirring mechanisms
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time, stand, reach, bend, and regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Work is routinely performed in a general production environment on a concrete and dirt surface, with frequent exposure to both the internal and external environment.
- Frequent exposure to severe weather conditions, both heat and cold.
- Frequent exposure to dust, and noise levels that exceed a normal threshold.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
- Must wear steel-toed boots.
- Recommended (area specific): Safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, back brace, and safety suit. Will be provided by Harrell’s upon request.
- Personal Protective Equipment must be worn in accordance with SDS recommendations.
