Hydrographics LLC is a well established company which serves the oil and gas pipeline industry primarily. We provide a field crew which travels the US in company vehicles to inspect and survey pipeline river crossing sites for safety and to determine the route of pipelines using a variety of electronic instruments. Our technicians include surveyor technicians, corrosion technicians, CAD drafting, and commercial divers. We use RTK survey instruments and Total Stations to collect survey location data, differential GPS, and collect data on the pipeline underground routes for our customers. We may also use corrosion instruments to measure corrosion potentials over buried pipelines. Our crews travel in the field in company vehicles and will need good driving records. The crew will generally stay out 7-21 days while collecting the pipeline survey data and return to our office in Jacksonville Florida to assist in post-processing the survey information and producing the written reports and CAD drawings. Field personnel conduct all of the building and grounds maintenance, maintenance to survey and other equipment.
The Engineering Technician will assume supervisory responsibilities and train to manage field and office personnel while they collect pipeline survey data, conduct maintenance in the field and in our office, and shall learn the aspects of our business. A background in surveying, CAD drafting, electronic instrumentation, corrosion and electrical circuits, land navigation and mapping, and some knowledge of surface-supplied or scuba diving is desired. Candidates should be well organized and capable of using computer software such as Word, Excel, power point, and computer aided drafting. Be organized in the management and safekeeping of computer files, have good work habits and quality, and be able to direct the quality and productivity of a small crew in the field.
A TWIC card ( Transportation Worker Identification Card) is required by clients and the D.O.T. Drug and alcohol testing is a regular occurrence under 49 CFR parts 199 & 40 of the Dept of Transportation (pipelines), a good driving history, and Operator Qualifications ( OQ) for covered tasks must be maintained. OQ are a series of covered tasks which certify a qualified individual to conduct tasks on pipelines and are intended to protect, people, the pipeline and the environment. The company will sponsor, train and certify personnel in this position for the covered tasks required.
We prefer veterans and candidates with a good background in land navigation, GPS, or electronic instruments will be preferred. This is a small and specialized company with oil and gas clients all over the US. There are good future opportunities to move up with experience and proven capabilities.
