Life Line Ambulance is looking for dynamic individuals to join our organization as a MEDICAL BILLER. This position is an extension of our mission of "Excellent Customer Service". Life Line Ambulance is the largest private ambulance service provider in Northern Arizona. Our service area, which we cover with emergency and non-emergency ambulance service, spreads over 9,000 square miles. We are in large and small rural communities in Yavapai, Coconino and Maricopa Counties.

EDUCATION: Necessary education and training to perform the essential job requirements and functions/duties as outlined below.
WORK HISTORY: Minimum of six (6) months experience with data entry and medical office background. Must be familiar with Insurance, Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS), Medicare billing and regulations with basic knowledge of medical terminology. Must be able to type 45 wpm.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: It is the responsibility of the Patient Representative to acquire and maintain the following certification: National Academy of Ambulance Coding Certification (CAC). Obtain within 1 month of hire and maintain certification for duration of employment.
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS: The Patient Representative must be a self-starter, with independent work habits. He/she must be able to communicate verbally and in writing with all personnel, customers and suppliers. He/she must be able to complete and check paperwork, such as, call sheets, patient care reports, billing forms, collection letters, and must be able to communicate effectively over the telephone. Patient Representative must be effective in analyzing and evaluating problems, making recommendations and suggestions to bring change to a system to improve accounts receivable. He/she must possess business aptitude and organization and office etiquette. He/she must possess computer knowledge and typing skills at a minimum of 45 wpm.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:
1. Verifies benefits with insurance companies.
2. Files all claims with the appropriate payer source.
3. Completes weekly, bi-weekly and monthly follow-up on all accounts.
4. Conducts private collections of patient bills.
5. Makes recommendations regarding bad debts.
6. Run TRW reports; reports findings.
7. Sends paper claims daily as follows; processes assigned workflow.
8. Processes AHCCCS and Medicare appeals.
9. Attends mandatory meetings and meets training requirements.
10. Abides by all Company policies and procedures.
11. Handles walk-in and telephone inquiries regarding bills.
12. Completes any and all other duties as assigned.
