Job Description
Train developmentally disabled adults who live in their own homes skills of daily life. Teach them on an individual basis to build their skills in budgeting, shopping, meal planning, household maintenance, personal safety, communication, and using healthcare and community resources. (ILS) Field work position. Part-time to full-time and on-call positions available. Schedule arranged with supervisor to accommodate clients, Monday through Friday availability, 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. blocks of time. Wide availability and flexibility a plus.
Responsibilities
Conduct training sessions in the client's home and in community settings
Tailor training sessions based on the individual client's service plan
Break tasks into simple steps
Communicate with supervisors, healthcare and social workers, and other professional staff
Produce case notes and data on client progress/barriers
Work both independently and with a supervisor
Motivate others to accomplish goals, complete tasks
Identify and respond to case load priorities
Organize case load tasks and adapt to scheduling adjustments
Drive to onsite training sessions
Experience
Working with developmentally disabled and /or dual-diagnosed adults in 1:1 ratio. Experience with a diverse population, field work, independent time management, communicating and attending meetings with other agencies and family members, motivating others, and documenting details in case notes. Transferable skills, motivation, flexibility, and positive attitude counts.
Education
Associate Degree, or one year service in related field; must have writing and basic computer skills.
Job range: $13.00 to $13.75/hour; increase after probationary period based on performance
