JOB SUMMARY:
Identify and service new and existing commercial nursery and greenhouse accounts by establishing a presence and creating relationships with growers. Represent Harrell’s LLC in a professional manner by selling designated product line within a predetermined territory by offering solutions and providing growers with technical support.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Develop a relationship of trust and industry expertise with customer base.
2. Ability to drive a vehicle to existing and potential customers.
3. Secure orders from existing and potential customers by visiting the customer facility or contacting directly by phone, text message, email or other
4. Initiate and follow-up with customers to resolve problems and answer questions
5. Prepare and present proposals, quotes and recommend products based on customer needs
6. Assist customers and arrange payment terms in accordance with established company guidelines
7. Attend sales meetings, trade shows, events and educational activities to stay up to date on the latest developments, trends and regulations in the market
8. Stay current on product labels, research and performance of Harrell’s products
9. Manage controllable expenses in the territory
10. Maintain contact with key university faculty and independent researchers in the territory
11. Assist accounting with keeping accounts receivables current
12. Maintain expert knowledge of agronomics in order to give educated recommendations to customers regarding products
13. Suggest marketing programs and pricing in territory
14. Maintain valid driver’s licenses, certifications and/or permits required to perform responsibilities.
15. Ensure compliance with all Federal, State and Local ordinances affecting this position
16. Ensure compliance with all Company policies and programs
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
1. Requested reports/forecasts to supervisor.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture or related field preferred or equivalent sales or industry experience.
2. Master’s degree preferred.
3. Ability to drive company vehicle and maintain a safe driver record.
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
5. Ability to organize and prioritize.
6. Ability to multi-task and change tasks quickly and efficiently.
7. Ability to work independently.
8. Excellent interpersonal skills.
9. Working knowledge of fertilizer formulation.
10. Working knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Office products and industry related software such as Customix is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Regularly required to talk, hear, see, sit, stand, bend, use of fingers to type on a computer, and lift up to 50 pounds.
