Colorado School of Mines invites applications for a tenured position at the Assistant Professor level in the Department of Mechanical Engineering in the area of fluid mechanics. The Department is seeking applicants with expertise in one or more of the following areas: fluid flows for energy applications, fluid flows for materials processing or manufacturing, multi-phase flows, and/or thermal hydraulics. The faculty member is expected to build on the school’s strengths in thermal and energy sciences or in materials characterization and fabrication.
The successful candidates will be expected to develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in mechanical engineering, as well as to develop and sustain a successful funded research program.
Candidates must have earned a doctoral degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline. The successful candidates must demonstrate the potential for scholarship, service, and successful teaching of mechanical engineering education at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills are a must. Candidates must demonstrate the potential to develop a self-sustaining research program. The ideal candidate will have research interests in fluid flows for energy applications, fluid flows for materials processing or manufacturing, multi-phase flows, and/or thermal hydraulics. Researchers with experimental and/or computational research experience will be considered.
