Wayfair photography studio in Westborough, MA is seeking a Scene Shop Manager to implement the building, movement, and installation of stage scenery. The manager works to translate artistic designs into construction drawings and communicate design and technical information to production assistants. The Scene Shop Manager also procures and maintains equipment and supplies in the scene shop.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Designs and creates sets components with re-usability in mind.
In conjunction with other production staff members, ensures proper training on the use of tools and equipment. Enforce shop and safety practices.
Reviews and revises scenic designs within financial, time and staff skill parameters and communicates this information to production assistants, providing training and oversight as needed.
Develops construction drawings (CAD) of stage scenery and transmits information to various stakeholders for approval.
Assists in the procurement and receipt of all job specific construction materials needed to execute designs.
Assist in planning the construction schedule, shop space usage and studio usage.
Participate in the construction and rigging of scenery, rough and finish carpentry, and final painting.
Supervises the load-in and strike of scenic elements as needed
Maintain the scene shop and its equipment, including inventory of existing set parts and materials
Keep accounts of budgeted shop and Theater maintenance expenses.
Ensure correct design, functionality, and placement of scenic elements.
