Acentia is seeking a Systems Administrator to join our team.
The Systems Administrator II will maintain data files and control procedures for a simple system of networked personal computers or for a group of desktop computers linked to a host server.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for system security and data integrity
• Responsible for Systems Administration.
• Responsible for troubleshooting system issues.
• Administer quarterly patches as required/patch management for servers and workstations.
• Maintain IP address space for domain.
• Racking/deracking servers and network connections as required.
• Migrations as required.
• Assigns passwords and monitors use of resources
• Back up files as required
• May produce periodic business reports, generate output such as labels, letters, and forms, and respond to frequent management request for information
• May be a resident expert for applications running on a department-wide LAN or for the entire computer system in a smaller enterprise
• Work after hours and at other NOAA facilities maybe required periodically
• Primary and back-up 24x7 on-call rotation.
Required Skills
Minimum Experience:
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities:
• Minimum 2 years of Linux experience (Red Hat Preferred)
• Minimum 2 years’ experience with Windows 2000, 2003, 2008 server.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience with Active Directory.
• 2 years’ experience with 3rd party applications (McAfee, Adobe, Firefox)
• Knowledgeable with Xen, and VMware.
• Well versed with SSL, DNS, NFS, Samba/Windows domains and DHCP.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Project)
• Government experience preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Must be highly detail-oriented.
Skills and Qualities:
• Must be organized, timely, and customer service oriented
• Ability to work well independently and in a team setting
• Adaptability, flexibility and ability to deal with ambiguity and change
• Excellent oral and written communication and customer service skills
• Excellent attention to detail and good analytic skills.
Education/Certifications:
• Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent).
• 2 years of relevant experience.
Clearance:
• Must be able to qualify for Public Trust Clearance per contract requirements
Physical Requirements:
• Regularly required to sit for extended periods up to 80% of time; frequently required to move about to access file cabinets and use office equipment such as PC, copier, fax, telephone, cell phone, etc.
• Occasionally required to reach overhead, bend, and lift objects of up to 50 lbs.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include use of computer monitor screens up to 80% of time
Work Environment:
• Individual’s primary workstation is located in an office area
• The noise level in this environment is low to moderate
