At JM Lifestyles we are looking for hard working, driven, career minded employees to fit into one of the many departments of our shop and help grow our team to alleviate some of the burden off the current team members as well as enable us to expand and grow to be able to produce more product to more clients!
"Mold Builders" are those who build the forms in which the concrete will be cast. These molds are built using templates that we take ourselves or are sent to us from various different outlets. We also use computer drawings or just simple dimension drawings to work off of in order to specify what we are building. Your job is to produce a certain amount of molds each week that will enable the shop to produce enough materials to meet our weekly financial goals. The process starts in this department and sets the tone for what can be produced each week. Basic carpentry skills are preferred and a general knowledge of tools such as a table and chop saw, router, nail guns, drills and drivers, etc. This is a specific style of woodworking and carpentry so whatever skills you bring to the table will be adjusted and whatever you don't have will be learned.
"Casters" are those who put the cement into the molds, your job is to take different mix formulas and layer them into a mold/form to specific dimensions in order to build up the piece before you. This is a relatively quick learning process and timing is everything. You are working with a liquidfied substances that is always drying out and your job is to mold it to the laid out specs in a specified time frame in order to meet the production goals for the week.
"Finishers" are the people who are responsible for grinding all the pieces that were cast into the molds, making sure they are flat and smooth and given a proper radius on the underside. Then demolding those pieces, flipping them over (safely) and leveling them out in order to ensure that they are level and straight through the cure time. Once that is done you will be responsible for performing all "finishing" processes to the piece, sanding, patching, touch ups in radius and of any chipped corners, etc. Your job is not finished until the piece looks like the approved sample and is ready to have a transparent coat of sealer put on it. However you leave it is how it will look forever, so an acute attention to detail is critical.
"Sealers" are those who put the sealer onto the finished pieces. Your job is to spray and/or roll coats of sealer onto all pieces ensuring that they have a flat, consistent and finished look and feel that represents our standards in order to give the client what they were shown at the time the job was sold and meets the expectation set by our standard finishes. There is also dry-fitting and some assembly require in this department making sure all embeds and add-ons fit where they are supposed to and everything is ready to go for the install team.
"Stainers" are those who take the finished pieces, prior to sealer and do any sort of faux finishes that are needed. Such as making pieces look like marble, or adding depth with acid stains, etc. The bulk of this department is staining our "woodform concrete" which is our concrete that is made to look and feel just like real wood. This allows us to make things like sinks and bath tubs, tables for outside or with fire components in them that you would never be able to do if you were using real wood. We have 8 standard colors that we do in our woodform but we are always doing custom things and utilizing our skills and creativity to reach new clients and markets. Any background in art, painting, autobody/detailing work, etc. are all beneficial in this department but our processes are recorded and established and can be taught to anyone with a creative eye who is willing to apply themselves.
"Installers" are those responsible for taking the finished product and loading it onto the truck safely and securely and delivering it to the clients house just as it was when it left the shop. These pieces are handled with the utmost care and that care is carried over into the way you respect the client and their house/property. This job requires heavy lifting and travel (within the tri-state area) to ensure that all of our clients are getting proper installation by those that understand the material and what went into the product that is being installed in their house.
"Templater" this person would be responsible for going out to job sites or client's homes and taking templates of the areas/pieces we will be producing at the shop. Your job would be to travel to the sites, using our established templater notes to produce templates that provide accurate and easily understood specs and markings so that our mold builders can build off of them and everyone else can use them to understand what the piece is, how it should fit and be able to monitor that through all stages of production. This person would be in direct contact with the mold builders/installers to answer any questions or give tips on the site and the site layout.
