The Role
The Publisher Account Specialist will be charged with managing relationships with JSTOR’s participating publishers for journals and other content types. The Publisher Account Specialist will act as the primary point of contact for publishers on all issues relating to their digital content on JSTOR and will serve as the main account manager for a subset of them. The ideal candidate must be a creative, organized, energetic, outgoing, and detail-oriented individual who can work independently and collaboratively.
Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Account Coordination. Serve as the main point of contact for publishers regarding their e-content, working with other units to answer questions and resolve problems in a timely manner. The Publisher Account Specialist will develop a strong working knowledge of the journals service, publishing processes, and policies, as well as familiarity with the roles and responsibilities of other teams and will:
1. Initiate contact with participating publishers and manage and maintain content logistics and related publisher communication with content-level publisher contacts.
2. Communicate and disseminate to publishers an overview of the journals workflow and content processing systems and gather from publishers all required information regarding their publishing practices
3.Interact regularly with Content Management, Content Development, Technology, Marketing, and User Support units to gather information and provide responsive, informed support to publishers.
4. Monitor production schedules and follow up with publishers on delayed or missing items.
5. Train publishers on procedures for submitting new content and content approval/release.
6. Create and disseminate regular status reports on publisher and content integration into CSP and related publisher communication activities.
7. For a subset of publishers, serve as the main account manager.
8. Provide general support in support of CSP-specific needs beyond e-content, such as sales and fulfillment.
General Publisher Support. Handle all routine errors on JSTOR’s website found and reported by publishers by resolving or creating JIRA items, tracking JIRA items, and informing publishers when problems are resolved. Assist publishers with marketing ads and marketing verbiage on the site. Create and maintain publisher and journal pages.
• Data Maintenance. Enter data regarding publisher content and production into journal and contact-tracking databases, update spreadsheets, make files, and notify unit staff of relevant details.
• Content. Work with varying internal and external groups to initiate a smooth content workflow for all journal e-content.

The position calls for a self-directed, motivated individual who has the ability to balance workload efficiently; who feels comfortable taking on a broad and changing set of responsibilities; who seeks out additional work/responsibilities in a fast-paced and rapidly evolving organizational environment; and who looks for proactive
ways to improve and enhance communication and workflow processes across various teams and units. The ideal candidate will have experience working with service-oriented organizations and will possess strong communications and client relationship skills. Occasional travel (10% to 20%), primarily to publishers’ and providers’ locations and ITHAKA offices may be required.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years’ experience in scholarly publishing, preferably in online publishing of journals
Excellent organizational skills, with a strong attention to detail, a proven record of meeting deadlines, and a willingness to work in a hands-on environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to work effectively across organizational boundaries and in a service delivery capacity
Demonstrated experience with a range of relevant office applications and software tools
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and follow through on multiple projects
Extremely detail oriented
Excellent writing, speaking, and listening skills
Flexibility
Familiarity with SGML, XML, DTDs or schemas a plus.
