Job Summary
Assist with the fabrication of fiberglass reinforced plastic products for industrial ventilation, heating, exhaust, and process-related ductwork systems.
Essential Functions:
1. Assist fabricators with mixing catalyst and resins in appropriate amounts, select correct mat size for the job, wet-out materials, pat or press materials, use of rollers to release any air bubbles on duct work.
2. Fabricate pieces given to you by foreman or team leader in accordance with the piece drawing and shop standards.
3. Trim & prep fabricated pieces for paint.
4. Proper use of tools (see “Equipment and Machinery Used”).
Miscellaneous Duties:
1. Interact with organizational team members and others in a professional manner.
2. Assist in shop housekeeping and clean-up of work areas.
Working Conditions:
1. Manufacturing environment; may be exposed to loud noises, changing temperatures, machinery with moving parts, and exotic materials.
Equipment and Machinery Used:
1. Glue gun, level, high-speed sander, heavy-duty scraper, tape measure, chalk reel, die grinder, angle grinder, router and carpenter’s square.
Physical Requirements:
1. Lifting up to 20 lbs. regularly and up to 50 lbs. occasionally. Pushing, pulling, standing for long periods of time, manual dexterity and visual acuity.
