Ensures that pumps, conveyors, blowers, chlorinators, vacuum equipment and other waste water treatment equipment are functioning and maintained properly. Keeps record of operations as per instructions and regulatory guidelines. Operates a wide range of medium and heavy equipment to include graders, backhoes, front-end loaders, bulldozers, and trucks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Efficient operation of assigned equipment, in compliance with site’s health & safety program, with much attention to safety of self and others.
2. Responsible for daily operation of hazardous waste disposal injection well and its routine maintenance.
3. General maintenance of equipment as per supervisor’s instructions.
4. Report equipment malfunctions promptly.
5. Records daily system readings and inspections, pump leachate, performs weed trimming and grass cutting around facility and associated systems.
6. Ensures that pumps, conveyors, blowers, chlorinators, vacuum equipment and other waste water treatment equipment are functioning properly.
7. Collects and processes storm water samples as needed.
8. Enters data into excel spreadsheets and maintains system records
9. Maintain equipment clean, inside and out.
10. Keep record of equipment maintenance and repairs.
11. Receipt, handling, recovery, disposal and recycling of hazardous waste.
12. Keep logs and records of waste received and shipped off-site.
Perform other, related duties as assigned.

While performing this job, the employee is responsible for continuous adherence to the Company’s Health & Safety Program. This includes: the health and safety of themselves and their coworkers, completing tasks in a safe manner, attending safety meetings and mandatory H&S training, and reporting any unsafe conditions, acts or unanticipated hazards to their Supervisor, General Manager or Health and Safety Specialist. Duties and responsbilities are detailed in the H&S Program Master Document and will be provided by the H&S Specialist and/or the direct supervisor during new-hire orientation, training sessions or upon request.
ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATORY COMPLIANCE
To comply with applicable regulations, the Operator is required to complete the hazardous training program as established in the Company’s Environmental Compliance Plan. A copy of the training sessions is available upon request.
JOB LEVELS
• Level I: Operator I: Entry-level position. 0-2 years of experience in an industrial work environment. Learning position.
• Level II: Operator II: 2-3 years of experience in an industrial work environment. Handles routine assignments and requires senior guidance to complete intermediate tasks.
• Level III – Operator III: Intermediate position 3-5+ years of experience in an industrial work environment. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision.
• Level IV-Operator-Lead – Extensive operational experience and has board knowledge of company policies and procedures and is authorized to handle a broader array of issues autonomously than lower level reps. May act as the lead of a staff of operator. May be responsible for training lower level associates. Requires at least 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. Typically reports to a manager. Top level operator position. 5+ years of experience in an industrial work environment.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES (SKA)
To perform the essential functions of the job, the employee is required to operate all equipment on site as needed: track hoe, track hoe loader, off road dump trucks, water truck, forklifts, man lift, bobcat, wheel loaders, vacuum truck, roll off truck and site pick-ups.
Required Training
Initial training will consist of 24 hours of HAZWOPER training and 8 hours field experience, in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.120; additional departmental training as needed. Annual training will consist of 8 hours of HAZWOPER Refresher training, in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.120; review of initial training and additional departmental training as needed.
• Education and/or Experience
High School Diploma and 3 years of experience in the field or equivalent combination of training and experience. Prefer experience with waste water systems and equipment.
• Certificates/Licenses/Registrations
Valid Texas Driver’s License. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty
• Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, shipping documents, operating and maintenance manuals, and procedures manuals. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, general memos and correspondence. Ability to write simple correspondence, and keep logs and records. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations, including vendors, customers and coworkers.
• Mathematical Skills
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with I0s and I 00s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
• Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions or in diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
