Responsibilities: Support the University of Wisconsin System and UW-Milwaukee (UWM) enrollment goals through the promotion of UWM to prospective students, families, high school and college personnel, and the broader off-campus communities. Through effective customer service, territory management and full engagement within the Office of Undergraduate Admissions (OUA) outreach efforts, attract a qualified and diverse prospective student audience to consider and ultimately select UWM as their destination campus. This position will conduct targeted outreach recruitment activities in all designated territories including high school visits and college fairs. In coordination with their supervisor, this position will develop a recruitment plan for students in their respective territory and will be asked to help with other recruitment efforts on and off campus. In addition, this position will serve as a liaison to prospects and their families for questions related to admissions and other related processes. Further support enrollment goals throughout the application and enrollment process by providing a host of advising services, follow-up activities, and yield events. This position will work collaboratively with other recruiters within OUA, the Assistant Director for High School Recruitment and Community Relations, and the Out of State Admission Coordinator as part of the Enrollment Management unit. This position reports directly to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. (One position will be primarily focused on in-state recruitment and the other on out of state recruitment. The majority of the recruitment travel takes place from September to November in the Fall, and February to April in the Spring. The amount and locations of travel will be determined in greater detail after territory analysis and discussions with the Assistant Director for High School Recruitment and Community Relations and Out of State Admission Coordinator.)
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required (degree must be granted by the date of hire). Prior work experience with high school and/or college students is required. Prior experience giving public presentations is required. A valid driver’s license is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with UWM’s academic programs, admission requirements, University policies and procedures as staff member and/or student is preferred. Experience working in an admission/recruitment setting with territory management is encouraged. Must demonstrate initiative, independence and leadership ability. Welcoming to individuals of all cultural backgrounds and human diversity. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience working with client relation management systems or other student communication or tracking systems also encouraged. Master’s degree or other advanced degree a plus. Salary/Pay Basis: Full-time position with a 12 month fixed renewable contract. Salary will be commensurate with experience within the UWM academic staff salary structure. Minimum Salary Range for Associate Advisor is $31,784 and for No Prefix Advisor is $36,426. Consideration of title assignment depends on multiple factors with the level of experience considered first: less than two years experience (graduate level work included) for Associate level, and a minimum of two years experience (graduate level work included) for the No-Prefix level. This appointment includes a comprehensive benefits package covered under the Wisconsin Retirement System.
