The primary functions of the Branch Lead will involve communicating regularly by phone, computer, fax, and in person, normally at the Coastal Construction Products office, about products and specifications with customers, suppliers, their representatives, architects, engineers, building maintenance personnel, building owners and their representatives, and members of organizational boards. It may include participation in trade organizations and similar such sales contacts with people who influence buying decisions.
Other directly related functions involve extensive communicating regularly by phone, computer, fax, and in person with other members of the Coastal team. This includes the Jacksonville based central credit, inventory and administration staff as well as the sales, inventory and administrative personnel in the other Coastal Construction Products locations throughout the Southeast. This involves extensive responsibility to utilize the computerized information system, including data input, reading and utilizing such information, especially related to credit, inventory control, and coordination of sales activities.
In addition to engaging regularly with Coastal’s customers regarding products and specifications, as Branch Lead, you will be responsible for a team of technical professionals, in effort to support our customers’ every need.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
Manages and leads the daily Inside Sales branch operations.
Including:
- Safety
- Ensure that all operational policies and procedures in branch are followed accurately
- Promote safety through regular team meetings and Distribution Center walk-throughs
- Facilities
- Maintain a clean work environment
- Coordinate and manage distribution center service operations with Distribution Center Manager
- Ensure regular maintenance and services are being done correctly (Let’s break this out to 2-3 more bullet points – getting specific on what those maintenance and services are)
- Inventory
- Manage all open commits on a regular basis
- Develop strong knowledge of demand calculations
- Ensure operational processes for receiving and picking are being following
- Work to establish strong internal transfer efficiencies among partnering branches
- Manage all Inside Sales processes involving sales, credit, purchasing and payables
- Customer Service
- Meet and exceed internal or external customer expectations with friendly service, technical expertise, timely follow-up and thorough written and verbal communication
- Team
- Ensure proactive and reactive Inside Sales activities are:
- Routine and effective
- Customer friendly
- Ensure Inside Sales coverage/customer site visits for sales support
- Coordinate with Sales & Marketing Management:
- Schedules & monitors I/S tech/product training with Reg Sales Mgr
- Co-leads meetings with Regional Sales Manager with Inside & Outside Sales to ensure effective coordination
- Gather and report market information regarding:
- Competitors, vendors, and customers
- Local market trends, events, & economics
- Participate in the hiring, selection and outplacement process
- Participate in the Inside Sales employee Strategy Sessions

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- 2-5 years’ experience in Inside Sales position and/or related field preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Has flexibility as to method, priority and timing of job duties.
- Proficient in Windows Microsoft programs (Excel and Power Point).
- Ability and means to travel as needed for delivery of materials to jobsites or customer facilities and participation in periodic branch inventories. (Would need to provide proof of liability and property damage insurance on vehicle used.)
Physical Requirements:

- Travel – may be some for training purposes, occasional customer deliveries, inventory, etc.
- Climb a ladder.
- Use of specific equipment typical in distribution center environment.
- Must be able to obtain forklift certification.
- Physical ability to handle (lifting, pulling and pushing) typical product packaging, from light weight items up to 75 pound bags (with equipment) required.
- The ability and willingness to handle materials, including loading and unloading commercial carrier trucks and various customer vehicles.
