HJF is seeking a Procedural Skills Course Coordinator to support the Department of Surgery located at the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, MD. HJF provides scientific, technical, and programmatic support services to the Department of Surgery.
The Procedural Skills Course Coordinator (PSCC) is responsible for the day-to-day operation of all procedural skills courses associated with the clinical readiness program at USUHS. These include, but are not limited to, ASSET+, COTS+, CSEM, ATLS, ASSET, and other clinical readiness program required courses. The PSCC overseas the preparation, maintenance, inventory and operation of all courses related equipment/supplies and collaborates with the course director and assessment director to design, plan, implement and schedule course activities. For each course, the PSCC ensures adherence to program policies, course objectives, safety guidelines, reporting requirements, and established best practices for training and assessment.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and supervise the general operation of the course laboratory sessions (cadaver/simulation) to assure the course activities are implemented as planned. Employee will act as the primary contact for scheduling all personnel associated with the courses held at USU – will communicate effectively with suppliers and procurement personnel to implement maintenance, repair, update ad technology changes including coordinating upgrades to software/equipment as needed and coordinate with course director and program manager to budget for replacements, as needed to assure continuity between course administrations. Assist in the development and implementation of courses for other specialties as required to support the Clinical Readiness Program. (30%)
- Coordinate workflow between course stakeholders (course director, assessment director, DMRTI, faculty, and personnel associated with procurement, equipment, course specimens, facilities, finance, travel, information technology); Participate in meetings to assist with development and implementation of course experiences; coordinate course support training for all technical support personnel and provide orientation to new course support staff and oversee their training. Coordinate course schedule in compliance with USU scheduling policies working to prevent scheduling conflicts. (25%)
- Oversee the regular maintenance and repair of all course-related equipment; provide technical support for surgical equipment, assessment system, and simulation models used during courses. (15%)
- Organize and restock course related materials and supplies, while overseeing the setup and take down of course laboratory equipment – allowing for rapid turnover of lab setup as necessary. Maintain course laboratory spaces to assure they meet regulation and accreditation standards. (10%)
- Provide recommendations for equipment and supply purchase anticipating future changes in technology; Coordinate the setup and maintenance of AV presentation systems for course slides and supporting medial. (10%)
- Ensure safety for all course participants. (10%)
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Superior written and oral communication skills Strong interpersonal and computer skills: ability to meet multiple deadlines and handle multiple priorities. General knowledge of IRB process and the policies and procedures associated with them. Military experience or previous experience in a hospital setting as a technician in operating rooms is a major plus.
Minimum Education: Associate’s degree required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Minimum Experience/ Training Requirements: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience required for this position.
Work Environment: This job takes place in a typical office setting.
Background/Security: Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Tier I investigation/Public Trust and a Common Access Card (CAC).
