The State of North Dakota is looking for an Information Security Engineer to join our Cybersecurity Infrastructure team to assist with the development of one of the world’s most advanced Cyber Operations Centers. Summary of Work
The Information Security Engineer will be a member of the Cyber Infrastructure (CyINF) team within State of North Dakota’s Cyber Operations Center (CyOC). This team provides endpoint protection, vulnerability scanning, cloud security, logging solution, and security architecture services to the State of North Dakota and its customers.
The Information Security Engineer architects and maintains security solutions needed by the CyOC and will implement technologies to meet the standards set forth to protect StageNet. The Information Security Engineer should be a continuous learner and have a natural curiosity, strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and superior communication and writing skills. The Information Security Engineer should be a natural leader and will provide guidance and mentoring to other engineers on the team.
Tasks and Duties
- Maintain and run application and operating system vulnerability management, deployment of security awareness training, Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) solution, and SIEM to department standards, best practices, and policy.
- Provide dashboards, metrics, reports, administration, and configuration of vulnerability scans, and endpoint protection in support of State of North Dakota's StageNet Standard.
- Configure application scanning to evaluate OWASP top 10 vulnerabilities.
- Provides security recommendations on technologies already existing in the cloud and on those migrating to the cloud. Evaluating and recommending new cloud technologies or capabilities that benefit the State of North Dakota and in securing StageNet.
- Mentor and assist junior analysts as needed.
- Participate in tabletop, cyber range, and purple team exercises to improve skillsets, develop a cooperative mindset, and enhance information sharing within the team.
- Review procedures and processes, make recommendations and promote the continuous improvement of the capabilities of the Cyber Operations Center and to advance the security posture of the State of North Dakota.
Minimum Qualifications:
Requires one of the following:
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer information systems, cyber security, information technology, or related degree and one year of current and progressive work experience within a cybersecurity role.
- An associate degree in computer science, computer information systems, cyber security, information technology, or related degree and three years of current and progressive work experience within a cybersecurity role.
- ISC2 CISSP, CCSP or Amazon AWS CCP and four years of current and progressive work experience included computer systems security activities
- Five years of current and progressive work experience within a cybersecurity role.
