Summary of Work
As a part of the State of ND’s Enterprise Architecture team, the Architect Associate will focus on the development, execution, and promotion of business architecture strategy and processes. The scope of business architecture includes facilitating business and IT strategy alignment, providing oversight of enterprise product and services capabilities, and aligning IT change and procurements with State standards and architectural direction.
Candidate must have strong interpersonal and customer service skills and must have extensive communication skills needed to motivate, convince, and/or change behavior as well as effectively interpret and communicate highly technical information to non-technical and technical users. Candidate must also be able to perform in a fast-paced, progressive, and challenging team environment and have the ability to build long-lasting, trusting relationships.
Duties and Tasks
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to align business vision and strategy with the implementation of solutions, to ensure business value from technology, and provide a set of techniques that connect business and IT strategy to execution.
- Evaluate and align IT change and procurements with State standards and architectural direction.
- Help develop and manage the enterprise product and services capabilities and support product portfolio management activities.
- Establish, manage, and promote IT standards, policies, and best practices related to the support and operation of technology solutions across the State.
- Participate in short-term and long-term business and information technology planning to ensure support of user needs; provide users with information to develop plans and advise of forthcoming technology; provide alternative uses of technology when feasible to ensure cost effectiveness and/or optimization of resources.
- Strong organizational skills ensuring movement on organizational objectives and key results.
- Ability to work with business and technical people in a collaborative design environment.
- Strong people skills to build relations with customers, vendors, and team members across the organization.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor’s degree in computer science or an information technology related field, and at least five years of current and progressive work experience. Work experience must include recommending, procuring, and implementing information technology solutions. Additional work experience as described may substitute for up to two years of the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
