The Village of Wheeling Police Department seeks qualified applicants for the position of Telecommunicator to receive calls, relay messages, dispatch public safety personnel and perform related duties for a multi-jurisdictional 9-1-1 center.  The center is a 24/7 operation, expectation of working all shifts including weekends and holidays.

Requires H.S. diploma or equivalent.  Fluent bi-lingual candidates are encouraged to apply.  Previous dispatch experience preferred. Must accurately type at least 40 wpm. Starting salary $62,631; current union contract pay scale allows top of salary of $84,091 after eight (8) years of service as a Telecommunicator.  Plus excellent benefits including medical and dental, Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund enrollment, vacation, holidays/personal days.
