State Law Specialist

This position requires a person with superior organizational and research skills and the desire to become a subject matter expert in anything related to concealed carry law and legislative positioning as it relates to firearms. The position requires in-depth research skills, a project management background or education and must display a proven ability to work well across departmental boundaries to guide projects to completion. It also requires excellent communication skills and a willingness to work in a fast-paced environment where deadlines and accuracy cannot be ignored. It has the opportunity to have a huge impact on the future growth of the USCCA.
Position Summary
- Monitor state legislatures for relevant bills and update state pages when bills are signed into law.
- Research new concealed carry/self-defense topics for additions to the State, Federal, travel and terminology pages.
- Create a weekly gun law-related blog post.
- Monitor Google Analytics and update SEO tags and titles to maximize the position of our site in search results.
- Support Customer Engagement advisors regarding legal questions from members and prospects.
Duties/Responsibilities
Website / Reciprocity App
- Be the leading subject matter expert at Delta Defense on all elements related to handgun law in all 50 states, including but not limited to concealed carry law, self-defense statutes other elements regarding the use of force.
- Constantly research, compile, organize and constantly update all concealed carry and firearms-related laws for each state
- Keep apprised of all concealed carry-related legislation proposed at every level of Government and publish new and revised laws on the website within 2 business days of going into effect
- Research, compile, organize and constantly update Federal concealed carry and firearm related laws, Gun Fact or Fiction pages on often-searched topics, traveling with firearms pages and terminology pages.
- Collaborate closely with IT staff regarding new web pages, new content, app updates, features and web tools to continuously improve the user experience.
- Meet with IT Management regularly to prioritize support needed for the above-mentioned content.
- Attend and participate in all meetings focused on content improvement and other elements of the area in which you will work.
- Optimize SEO for the legal webpages.
- Edit and proofread materials
Customer Engagement
- Prioritize timely support for Customer Engagement advisors regarding legal questions received from members and other callers via Google Hangouts, Slack channels, emails and in-person contact
- Provide training videos for new Customer Engagement advisors on the various legal content provided on our web pages and how to navigate to locate specific content as needed.
- Provide regular written updates to Customer Engagement regarding concealed carry news as well as any updates and new content that is added to the website
- Attend Customer Engagement L-10 meetings as needed
Marketing
- Work with Marketing and other departments on strategies to leverage the high volume of traffic using the State/Federal law web page content to encourage new USCCA memberships.
- Participate with Organic, Marketing and consultants in overhauling the USCCA Mobile App to create a better user experience and to leverage the app to increase membership
Miscellaneous
- Limited writing for publication in CCM, USCCA blogs and marketing materials as needed.
- Assist various CCM writers with legal research and review of articles with legal content.
- Attendance at the USCCA Concealed Carry Expo or other events to serve as the subject matter expert in this area.

Skills/Abilities, Experience and Education Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in project management leading and directing projects ontime and within budget.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Political Science, or related field - or equivalent experience
