Special Projects Operations (SPO) is searching for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team.
Job purpose
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for working with the SPO Engineering team and all departments to develop new products and manufacturing processes. The Mechanical Engineer will utilize CAD software to create 3D models of components, assemblies, and manufacturing fixtures. The role will also require duties in the engineering lab to test products in support of customer and product development deliverables. The Mechanical Engineer also provides appropriate documentation and technical advice to both shop floor personnel and customers to ensure that each product meets customer quality and delivery requirements. The Mechanical Engineer will also be involved with all aspects of Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).
Duties and responsibilities
- Work with other Engineering Team Members to develop, design, and implement new business equipment pertaining to small engines, air compressors, and SCBA components.
- Create 3D models, manufacturing drawings, BOM’s and engineering documentation.
- Assist in creating and presenting technical reports regarding the status and results of design or study assignments
- Complete projects within the assigned time frame.
- Prepare estimates of development costs
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required
- 4-6 years of experience required
- Firm grasp of engineering concepts, and experience designing mechanical systems and products
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong ability to interpret technical drawings (e.g. blueprints)
- Experience creating 3D drawings required using CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar
- Self-motivated and capable of managing own workload of multiple tasks
- Strong commitment to safety
- Hands-on mechanical aptitude
- Experience working with small engines and compressors
- Experience with Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) is a plus

Working Conditions
The Mechanical Engineer operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, and fax machines. This position frequently works on the manufacturing floor. Incumbents should abide by all safety regulations.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
