Town of Swanzey NH, seeking a full time Police Officer

The Town of Swanzey, NH Police Department is seeking applicants for the position of Full-time police officer.  Swanzey is a growing town of approximately 7,500 residents located in southwestern New Hampshire. The Swanzey Police Department delivers quality Community Based Policing in active partnership with the citizens we serve. We are seeking career and community oriented individuals who desire to be part of a professional and progressive department.

Minimum qualifications; you must pass a physical fitness test, oral board, intensive background investigation, polygraph examination, psychological exam and a medical exam.

Applicants must be knowledgeable in the techniques and practices of law enforcement and have knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations, related to the regular practice of law enforcement. Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing, understand and follow administrative direction, and work effectively with superiors, other Town employees and the general public.

Dependent on experience, starting pay is $25.74 – $34.10 per hour, with overtime and special detail opportunities. Benefits include a dental plan and medical plan or a monthly opt out stipend of $630.00 a month (with proof of medical insurance elsewhere). Employees receive short term disability and life insurance at no cost. Earned time consists of; paid time off (PTO) of 20 hours a quarter, sick time and vacation time. Also, a yearly bonus for passing fitness agility test, and possible relocation assistance, dependent on distance.

All non-Certified Candidates will be sent to officer training school to obtain certification by New Hampshire Police Standards and Training. Wage increases at 6 months and 1 year after satisfactory complete of various trainings and certifications.

All Certified Officers will receive a sign on bonus at 3, 6 and 12 months up to $3,500 and a review at 6 and 12 months with a possible wage increase.
