Founded in 1971 in Long Island City, Queens, LaGuardia Community College is one of seven community colleges of the City University of New York/CUNY. LaGuardia offers more than sixty associate degree and certificate programs, as well as dozens of workforce training, ESOL, GED, and pre-college programs. In 2023, LaGuardia served approximately 25,000 students. More than one-third of our degree-seeking students were born outside of the United States, coming to LaGuardia from 136 countries and speaking forty-three heritage languages. More than half are first-generation college students. Sixty-nine percent live in Queens; the rest live in Brooklyn and beyond. Approximately two-thirds of our degree students receive financial aid. Reporting to the Chair of Health Sciences, the successful candidate will:

  • Provide administrative and program support to health science simulation activities;
  • Coordinate, schedule, and disseminate schedules of the simulation labs and equipment;
  • Maintain simulation lab inventory and the requisition of supplies and equipment, and monitor their maintenance and need for replacement;
  • Provide instructions and basic advice to students, faculty, and others seeking information on simulation activities, policies, and schedules;
  • Assist with set up and operating equipment used during a simulation and subsequent debriefing activities; (high fidelity simulators, sim man 3G, electronic medication carts, EMR software and audiovisual systems);
  • Assist with the development and implementation of workshops for faculty, students and staff to maintain up-to-date knowledge regarding simulation equipment and resources;
  • Collaborate with the IT department to maintain and troubleshoot computer systems, software, and hardware;
  • Assist with design and programming of clinical simulation modules / sessions in collaboration with Faculty;
  • Facilitate outreach activities aimed at promoting awareness of the services offered by the simulation Lab;
  • Coordinate student worker schedules with simulation lab activities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree required.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Two years of related experience or combination of advanced education and work experience preferred.  Experience working with adult learners / higher education is preferred. Experience working or teaching in a health care related field preferred. Candidates should be comfortable using technology and educational software. The successful candidate will have demonstrated strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

  • Conducts internet and/or database research and performs basic systems queries to locate information related to department activities.
  • Maintains department fiscal plans and budgets; assists in budget administration and invoice processing.
  • Provides basic information, instructions, and materials as requested by students, faculty, and others who contact the department.
  • May supervise office staff and student workers.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

$44,411 - $65,946
